no ftdi driver on balenaOS 6.0.23

On a Raspberry Pi 3B+ running the 64-bit OS version 6.0.23, the file `/sys/bus/usb-serial/drivers/ftdi_sio/new_id` is missing, which prevents the use of `/dev/ttyUSB0`. Is there a solution for this issue? 

I recall that this file was available in the older version, BalenaOS 4.0.26+rev1.
