No current limiter? #96

At least WLED has already had one mishap with its current limiter, which didn't work properly so you can guess what the consequences for users were. I simply don't accept such shamanistic solutions, and I've written about this emphatically more than once. Just buy a decent LED power supply (and based on typical setups, I'm willing to bet you don't need 15A with HyperSerialESP32, HyperSerialPico or HyperSPI; BTW do you have the cables to handle such current?). If you overload the power supply and get lucky, the protection will kick in. If it doesn't, you'll get a voltage spike much higher than 5V, which will attempt to correct the undercurrent. |

Thanks for the reply. Looks like ive been a little spoilt by the current protection then. Ive got an 8a psu i was saving ill throw that on and hope for the best. Also ill check all my wires etc are safe with that load, thanks for the suggestion. As an afterthought could i roughly reduce current needed just by binging the brighntess down on HyperHDR? Thanks again. |

Sorry if this is a daft qustion but im coming from WLED and am used to getting away with very limited power setups without any problems due to the current limit and brightness limit settings.
Ive just got my HyperSerialESP32 working this evening and my pc was giving me usb power draw warnings and acting up in general. My leds need 15a and are running on 3a currently.
Again im not trying to big up WLED but 3a wasnt a problem with it.
