Compatibility of pre-installed type C LED strip controller with HyperSerialESP32

Hi everyone,

I'm a complete beginner in hardware projects and this is my very first attempt at one. I recently came across a pre-built board on AliExpress – the WLED Sounds Reactive Slim Type C LED Strip Controller – and I'm considering it as an alternative to using a Pico 2040 with an integrated level shifter. The main reasons are that it's about half the cost, requires no soldering, and has a more elegant, compact design.

Here are the key specs from the board:

• Chipset: ESP32 with 4MB flash
• Built-in Level Shifter
• USB to UART Chip
• Built-in I2S PDM Digital Microphone for audio-reactive effects
• I/O Pins:
  • Button (GPIO0)
  • Data (GPIO18)
  • I2S_SDPIN (GPIO19)
  • I2S_WSPIN (GPIO23)
  • I2S_CKPIN (-1)
• Power: 5V Input/Output, max current 3A

My question is: Is this board compatible with HyperSerialESP32?
Specifically, can I flash HyperSerialESP32 onto this device, and are there any known issues – especially regarding the I2S interface (I noticed the I2S_CKPIN is set to -1) – that might affect its functionality with HyperSerialESP32?

Any insights, advice, or experiences you could share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

No, it seems to me that its not compatible (supposed to provide power supply for LEDS as well from USB port) and its more expensive or comparable (depends on the model) than Picos with built-in level shifter. And this USB to UART Chip tells us completly nothing about UART specification.
