Adding a battery?

What's the name of the connector for the battery on this board, and what batteries would you recommend for usage with this board? What's the best run time we can get with a battery hooked up?

Anyone tried anything so far?

2 pin JST-PH 2.0 connector / Picoblade 1.25mm-compatible (the smaller one common with LiPo batteries)

Still, how's everyone experiences with this?

Thanks for the detailed reply. Just something that popped into my head! I might order some cheap things on eBay and see what happens. Most seem to be 500mAh.

Might be something for a separate thread, but are there plans to use bluetooth in a later firmware? I guess that could support joysticks or audio?

I wonder whether with some adapters you could rig up some 18650 batteries or something. Got a few of those kicking around

I think a "future plans" thread might be useful - I'm just another interested ESP32 Rainbow owner, poking around and learning as I go 🙂 I suspect latency would be an issue in both of the cases you mention. I'll throw those into the "future ideas" page on the wiki.

I've seen some carriers for 18650 to JST-PH but they don't seem to be super common.

I have a load of old battery packs from phones. Just solder the wires on the gold contacts works like a charm :)

The battery connector is actually a 2 pin JST-ZH ( 1.5mm ) double check the polarity, as I've seen wiring both ways.
The battery charge circuit is a TP4057 so should work with any single cell Li-ion battery inc 18650
