Brew is not the only package manager on macOS

There are multiple package managers on macOS: MacPorts, Brew, Nix-Darwin (I think Fink is defunct now).

asdf-erlang only works with Brew.

I used to have it working without brew. But I'm a fool and tried to update to the new asdf version and now everything is on fire. I don't recall how I got it to work with asdf last time.
