MODBUS connects … but only when roaster is not running #1795

Sounds to me not like a software issue, but like an Electromagnetic interference (EMI) most likely caused by the running motors. Shorter (higher-quality) wires, better shielding and ferrite beads might help. For sure not an Artisan issue. Thus I am closing this here. |

My roaster is a Atilla G2. It is connected via an RJ45/ethernet cable to usb-c dongle to my laptop that is running Linux.
With the roaster powered up but nothing running (drum not spinning, no air, cooling fan/tray off) Artisan connects just fine and correctly reads the the probe temperatures and everything. As soon as I start any of the above, however, I get
MODBUS connection error
. If I try to connect with any of the above already running I getMODBUS failed to connect
. Turning any of the above off does not reestablish a connection. If I turn them off, stop the MODBUS and restart it, it will again connect just fine and display the correct temperatures etc.Any ideas what might be going on, or where I should look, or what I might try?
Thank you!
