Channel Programming with CHIRP #460

I'd not bother trying to switch back to another firmware. You need to add the f4whn-specific extension to chirp, to have it completely understand and preserve the settings from the IMG you downloaded from your radio. https://github.com/armel/uv-k5-chirp-driver/releases/tag/4.2.0. With that plugin installed, you should be able to download and upload the file from chirp to your radio. Once that works, then you can update the file you've downloaded and add new channels, then upload it again. |

Thank you both :-) I spent several hours yesterday trying to run a Windows VM on my Mac (convinced this was the problem) trying to make all this work. I gave up and made the post and you both gave me the answer in minutes! Really appreciate this - it's going to make my Quansheng UV-K5 so much more fun. Regards Chris |

Hi Armel and All,
Another question from someone who is new to everything. I've tried using CHIRP to program (if that's the correct word) the channels on my Quansheng UV-K5 with 4.2 Firmware. I can download the Channel list from the radio, but can't amend it or upload a related file. I'm using a Mac. Guessing this is a constraints of the 4.2? Or is it something else. Would it be possible to, say, re-apply the original firmware (does that exist somewhere - I did not back it up?), program the channels with CHIRP and then re-appy 4.2?
Thanks Chris
