No 640x480 resolution in 14.6.0?

I have these camera modules.

I am on 14.6.0 using the pre-compiled binary from the most current release and using the following template:

i see 640x480 in the pre-release 14.6 code (xdrv_81_esp32_webcam.ino under post-14.4.0):

but on my unit:

wcresolution 8 gives 400x296
wcresolution 9 gives 800x600

so something seems really off. what am i doing wrong? thanks

When it comes to the title question, I do get 640x480 with WcResolution 10, as indicated in the comments. Also, I cannot confirm your observation about WcResolution 8/9 giving other numbers than indicated in the comments you quoted, testing out with .../snapshot.jpg values 0..6 and 8..15 worked for me.

Wow! That is really interesting and strange. I wonder if there is something about my units? I too tested using snapshot.jpg and also seeing what TinyCamera app gets. I also did a restart 1 after each change - although that did not seem strictly needed. I doubt it could have anything to do with the template I am using. But I am such a newbie... Thanks

My testing with snapshot.jpg was in a browser, showing the resolution in the title bar. Just refreshing the page after changing WcResolution each time, no restarts. Used a specific template, but indeed any issues around gpio config would not be expected to have any surprising effects on what xy resolution you get.

Still, those cheap ESP32-CAM boards are not exactly unknown as sources of issues, and I'm not sure if something like issues with power or connections just might cause a failure in handling cam data.

Thanks. Your results caused me to re-flash the unit with Tasmota. Same binary file used. Same template file. Now it is working exactly as you describe. What the heck? Thanks for your time and help.
