Problem while using eplot #474

Hello guys! There are two types of transition part. First one is rigid connection which is consist of CONTA175 and TARGE170 element. The other is a superelement which is derived from shell element and couple to jacket. The thing is. The model with superelement goes wrong while running modal analysis in pymapdl with code like this. mapdl = launch_mapdl(loglevel='ERROR')
filename = 'test_super'
path = f'D:\\apdl\\test\\{filename}.cdb'
mapdl.input(path)
mapdl.eplot(vtk=True,cpos='xz')It pops out an error like this However, the model with rigid transition part runs without any error. |

You're exactly right about the issue with the superelement affecting the results, and we're going to have to add special treatment for models with a superelement vs ones without. Can you upload the input file here so I can run this locally and make a patch? |

Sorry that it took so long to take a look at this. I've been able to reproduce your error, but only on certain versions of MAPDL, seems that 2021R1 and newer run just fine, and prior to that it's unable to resolve the grid from MAPDL. Is it possible for you to upgrade? If not, I can most likely patch this. |

Hello, Is it possible to connect with pyMAPDL to a running solver in GUI mode (Ansys Classics)? I'm a bit confused now. Previously I read that you can only? connect to an MAPDL solver in the background. In the example of @chasel2361 chasel it seems to me that you can send and eplot to a running Classics GUI! But probably @chasel2361 has just made an independent Classics run with the same .cdb file, hasn't he? I think it is extremely helpful to have simultaneous, interactive graphics support while developing and debugging pyMAPDL scripts... Thank you very much Dieter |

I checked the server mode of MAPDL (-aas) but it is - sadly - only working within batch mode (-b). By the way I found two undocumented MAPDL startup options "-lch" and "-t". Does anybody know what they are for? |

Hello @FredAns did you manage to have a look at starting pymapdl with the MAPDL in GUI mode? Thanks a lot Dieter By the way, -lch is supposed to indicate that the command line came from the laucher and -t is supposed to restrict the maximum solver time. |
