pyedb : ability to create group of primitives and vias

Hi,

I'm looking for the ability to group primitives and vias in order to apply transformations on the group (e.g. translation and rotation). Is that something that is feasible with pyedb or Hfss3DLayout is the only option for more complex operations?

Hello @ALL-SPACE-Nuno,
in pyedb you can apply transformation on individual primitives. If you want top apply transformation on groups you probably have 2 solutions (depending on how looks your design).
Defining a component after converting your primitives into padstack instances and set as Layout pin. Then you can create a component out of those pins and apply a transformation (offset, rotation). If you have polygons you might need to embed them into padstack definition.
The second solution would be to group all primitives into a dedicated EDB, remove them from original design then import that EDB into the main one. That will create a hierarchy cell where the imported one can be moved and rotated.
