This plugin was recommended to me in a thread in Sanity's Slack. The site that I am working on is a College Sports News website that currently only reports on College Football. However, we are wanting to expand beyond football into other sports and I want to make sure during this new reorganization of the website I set ourselves up to scale. I am having trouble thinking of a taxonomy for this site. My main issue is how to stop duplicating things.
College sports in the US at least are typically split between NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. However, depending on the sport there could be subcategories I guess you could call them. For example, in football NCAA Division I consists of FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) and FCS (Football Championship Subdivision). Those are official designations by the NCAA. However, if you look at basketball, NCAA Division I is "unofficially" split between "Power 5" and "Mid-Major".
Within those divisions you have conferences as well. For example, in college football FCS there's the Southern Conference but in basketball they would be Division I but considered "mid-major". One concern about duplication is conferences in each division.
Any help would be great!
