documentation for new workflow style?

I recently donated for access to the new workflow ui but when I open it, I get what I think is the dock tab? and then I can't really do anything from there. I'm guessing that you have to have normal ui/ux installed and dock is an addon for that? because otherwise I couldn't get dock to launch it's lonesome.
