Javascript Code Changes not reflecting in app

Looking to potentially develop my own extension and am using this codebase to familiarize myself with some stuff. I'm confused about how changes are registered in the .js files.

For instance, I comment out the console.log("Console log enabled: ", window.opts.uiux_enable_console_log); lines in both .../javascript/dist/index.js and .../javascript/src/components/logger.js but the text is still printing into the console log in the app after saving the changes and restarting the server.

Very new to webdev so apologies if this is a simple thing!
