Notesium AI Assistant?

I've been experimenting with adding AI capabilities to Notesium and thought I'd share! I've developed this as an experimental addon for now, available here: notesium-gpt.

The addon is designed with privacy, transparency, and user control in mind. It does not rely on embeddings, training, vector databases, or intermediary servers. Instead, it leverages function calling and implements context approval to give you full control over exactly what information is shared with the assistant.

I'd love to hear your thoughts about the addon and the idea in general:

• Is AI integration something you'd find useful in Notesium?
• Are there features or improvements you'd like to see?

Please for the love of privacy, NO NO NO.

I'm sick of everything having an AI integration. I just want a simple note taking app that doesn't have any sort of cloud features or connections to any server. I don't even want local AI, that just wastes compute and battery for unnecessary features when if I wanted to use AI, then I would go to a dedicated website that lets me chat with one.

I appreciate the feedback! It’s always good to hear different perspectives on where people want (or don’t want) things to go.

As mentioned, this was an experiment to see what benefits an LLM could provide (hence the dedicated repo), rather than a fundamental shift in direction.

Linux caters to people who want more control over their computing experience. Lots of people in our space see AI integration as a reason to stay away from a specific product, myself included.

That doesn't mean I hate all AI. There's some things it does really well mainly due to speed, like asking for a complex bash script, but it's not great at personal things like taking notes.
