Why my plots are blank?

Hi there,
I am using this library to visualize some results in different places in my code:

        matplot::bar(x);
        matplot::show();
        matplot::save("/tmp/clustering.svg");
        
        .....
        
        matplot::heatmap(heatmap);
        matplot::show();

The problem that I am having is that only the first ever plot shows up in the window. anything I try to visualize afterwards opens a blank window with nothing in it (white).

It seems that calling a matplot::figure(); after each matplot::save(...); solves the issue.
