Error "WebServicesInstallerNotEnabled" when adding WP site to Panopticon

I recently set up a new Panopticon instance, and am running into issues adding a specific WP site to it. When I attempt to add it, I get the following error message:

Instead, we got an error which we should be able to provide troubleshooting information for (Akeeba\Panopticon\Exception\SiteConnection\WebServicesInstallerNotEnabled), but we don't have the code for it. This should have not happened.

Steps I've taken to troubleshoot this:

1. Verified the Panopticon plugin is up to date (1.0.2) and active
2. Disabled all other plugins
3. Verified JSON is enabled and working: https://www.madalynmckay.com/wp-json/
4. Re-loaded the core WP files

Other sites (both Joomla and WP) are added to my Panopticon fine, although this is the one site that is on an external host from the others, which are hosted internally on the same server as Panopticon.

Look a bit further up, it tells you "The WordPress JSON API (/wp-json) is blocked (HTTP 404)".

You have no .htaccess, or your server does not support .htaccess files.

I'm missing something - I am not seeing a message about a 404 anywhere. I can see the output when I browse the URL I linked above, and I verified the .htaccess file is in place on the server (SiteGround), and even re-generated it in Admin Tools to be sure.

Try this dev release of Panopticon and tell me what it does with that site: panopticon-1.3.2-dev202504281710.zip
