Offline Mode

We want to use Audiobookshelf for our children. As they are still small, their cell phones are usually in flight mode. The audio books are stored offline. But without a web connection to the server, the app cannot be used with the “bookshelf”.

Offline use with the familiar UI and audiobooks stored offline would be great.

Maybe I miss something, but this is implemented in the Audiobookshelf App (at least for Android, not sure for iOS).
It is not easily possible to add this to the PWA though

Oh wow, you're right.
Nothing is displayed in the library if there is no connection.
But on the start page! I'll check that again with the other cell phone.

Accordingly, my second suggestion should no longer be so relevant.

The function is given.
But for a better UI, displaying the local media in the library view would also be useful.

This is because the media are only listed in a row on the start page. This makes it difficult to get an overview of many audiobooks.

So, if possible, include it as an idea =)
This would also make the idea of setting the start view relevant again in my opinion.

I'm going to second this with additional case use:

When going on vacation, I'm not going to leave my computer on for weeks at a time while it's not doing anything. Additionally, internet blips could cause disruptions or power fluctuations could cause the PC to turn off. Also, not everyone may have the skill or be allowed to by the ISP to go into the ISP-owned wifi router to set up port forwarding. In these kinds of use cases, the user is left when travelling to what is only on the phone which is fine, but none of the playlists or series or anything else is available. Downloading a cache of the playlist and series when downloading files locally to the phone to allow the functionality to be retained when away from the home intranet is, as I see it, a must, when handling hundreds of audiobooks that belong in series together. Basically, the Library, Series, Collections, Authors, and Playlists tabs should also populate to what is downloaded when in an offline mode.

Additional use cases (though definitely not exhaustive) that would require this just in a list form: airline flights, cruises, travelling in areas with little to no cell phone connectivity, internet outages, overseas trips.

I understand that such an implementation would require time, but please consider this.
