Handling children without a device?

What is the recommended approach for accommodating children who do not have access to a device? Right now I don't really want to install the Home Assistant companion app on everyone's devices.

We do have a central Kiosk where a generic HA user is logged in, not a family member.

Am I maybe better off looking into Tag based chore claiming?

Or in general do I miss out on way too much without setting up HA users for every child and getting them to use the companion app on their own device?
