The issue seems to be that when opening files like PDF's and images , the favicon for the web browser tab does not show up. On the old repo it defaulted to the favicon that was used for the site I had rigged up on 3design.github.io. Since I moved the website from 3design.github.io repo to a different url, the favicon doesn't show at all. I have a hunch that this is a known issue on github pages with having websites exist on url's that are not the native (username).github.io.

This site is set up with the favicon being located in the /assets/images/content folder. I can try to put the favicon in the /rootdirectory and change src/_includes/components/layouts/main.njk line 6 so the the href points to the root folder. Maybe this will encourage the browser to render the favicon.

I did some experimenting on my local version. I have tried putting the favicon in the root directory and changing main.njk. The favicon shows up for web pages but does not show up when opening pdf or img files in the tab.
