For vehicles that do not send vehicle information or AndroidAuto Monitors,
navigation map software processes only the phone's GPS information.
In this case, if GPS reception is abnormal, such as when passing through a tunnel, a problem occurs where guidance cannot be received properly.

If the aa-proxy-rs program connects the elm327 device, reads the speed, and sends information such as car_speed to the phone, the navigation will probably be a little more accurate.

correct, it all depends if you HU is providing GPS sensor to android auto, and moreover what is preferred (it can also be set if I'm not wrong)

It's not like this. aa-proxy-rs is not connecting to ELM, it's the other software (in my case it's canze-rs) and I am using this only for battery level for the moment. Car speed is also provided by HeadUnit via AndroidAuto protocol.
