i am having a bit of an issue, and dont know if its me

i have this snippet

templ upgradeSelect(name string, maxUpgrade int){

    for i := 0; i <= maxUpgrade; i++ {
      <option value={ strconv.Itoa(i) }>{ strconv.Itoa(i) }</option>

  </select>
}

this as is, is fine by the lsp, however whenever i save (and format) it becomes

templ upgradeSelect(name string, maxUpgrade int){
<select name={ name }>
  for i := 0; i <= maxUpgrade; i++ { <option value={ strconv.Itoa(i) }>{ strconv.Itoa(i) }</option>
    }
</select>
}

then at `<select name={ name }>` the > is where the lsp diagnostic says
`for: unterminated (missing closing '{\n') - to escape "for", "if", "switch" etc. with braces, e.g. '{ "for" }' - https://templ.guide/syntax-and-usage/statements#ifswitchfor-within-text`

I'm unable to reproduce that issue, at least on:

(✓) os [ goos=darwin goarch=arm64 ]
(✓) go [ location=/run/current-system/sw/bin/go version=go version go1.24.1 darwin/arm64 ]
(✓) gopls [ location=/Users/adrian/go/bin/gopls version=golang.org/x/tools/gopls v0.18.1 ]
(✓) templ [ location=/Users/adrian/go/bin/templ version=v0.3.920 ]

It's formatting well, with no LSP warnings for me.

Also, since 076b696 released in https://github.com/a-h/templ/releases/tag/v0.3.887 you can simplify to:

still facing issues so here is minimal-repro:

OS: Arch Linux (WSL Win11)
Go version: 1.24.5 linux/amd
Gopls version: 0.19.1
Templ version: 0.3.920
(using nvim 0.11.3 with conform.nvim commit 973f3cb)

When formatting templ code, the formatter incorrectly places the opening tag of elements inside for loops on the same line as the loop declaration, breaking the intended structure.

Steps to Reproduce:

Create a new directory, and initialise go mod file:

mkdir min-repro
cd min-repro
go mod init min-repro
go get github.com/a-h/templ

Create test.templ:

package main

templ upgradeSelect(name string, maxUpgrade int){
  <select name={ name }>
    for i := 0; i <= maxUpgrade; i++ {
      <option value={ i }>{ i }</option>
    }
  </select>
}

Run the Formatter:

templ fmt test.templ

Expected Result:

templ upgradeSelect(name string, maxUpgrade int){
  <select name={ name }>
    for i := 0; i <= maxUpgrade; i++ {
      <option value={ i }>{ i }</option>
    }
  </select>
}

Actual result:

templ upgradeSelect(name string, maxUpgrade int) {
<select name={name}>
  for i:=0; i <=maxUpgrade; i++ { <option value={ i }>{ i }</option>
    }
</select>
}

Additional issue:

Even with an empty loop, the formatter produces a broken result:
Before:

templ upgradeSelect(name string, maxUpgrade int) {
  <select name={name}>
    for i:=0; i <=maxUpgrade; i++ {
    }
  </select>
}

After:

templ upgradeSelect(name string, maxUpgrade int) {
<select name={name}>
  for i:=0; i <=maxUpgrade; i++ { } </select>
    }

Additional Notes

• When trying to type <option> inside the for loop {}, the lsp doesn't seem to suggest any html tags

i can confirm Templ version 0.3.924 still causes issues in the code
(i can also confirm this happens to me when using Win11)
(it mostly looks like the for loop is the issue)

@a-h i was able to make a work around by having a helper function in go generate an array, for which the templ component to range over instead of using a C style for loop
