openmprouter monitoring from vps

Hi all,
and really congratulations for the project and the community, it's fantastic.
I am looking for a way to monitor the client status (wan are enough to begin) from the VPS side, so to avoid missing alerts.
Is there a way to ping local client interface, or something already available to understand when an interface is down?
