Is it possible to have background images and changes based on where the window is and only for a particular application?

I believe this feature is x-ray, where it only shows the background image and not any hovering windows behind a window like this example:

Where it is showing the other window and your xray feature would instead show just the wallpaper even if its behind another window?

If I am correct then I was wondering if it is only possible to only set it for a particular application e.g. my default terminal (such as alacritty)?

We have an x ray blur setting. You could enable blur and use a super small blur setting and then enable x-ray blur to have the same effect

ok that's good and also can the xray feature be applied only to the default terminal wheras the rest of the applications (such as file managers) can use gtk solid color themes?

you'd just only set blur on the terminal if you want this

@WillPower3309 Yes but most terminals don't support this xray feature where it only shows the background wallpaper. It will show what is behind the terminal including any window behind the terminal which is something I do not want. So that is why I want to know can you apply xray feature only to a specific application?

It's not a setting on the terminal, it's set on the compositor. You'd set an opacity in the terminal, and then use the following in swayfx config:

blur_xray enable
blur_passes 1
blur_radius 1
for_window [app_id="<terminal name>"] blur enable
