Roadmap

Hello everybody, here we hope to maintain a high-level roadmap for future features and updates. Please feel free to weigh in on both the features and their prioritisation - it is only through community involvement that we can best serve your needs!

Here is the current roadmap:

• 1. Information tagging: The ability to add information tags to clusters. Whether that's information relating to animal behaviour, condition, sex, age etc.
• 2. Multi-classifier support: This would allow the system to host multiple classifiers, each specialising in a different environment or region. This would allow us to expand our reach outside of sub-Saharan Africa.
• 3. Community classifiers: This would allow users to contribute their own species classifiers to TrapTagger, allowing us to more rapidly support new biomes. In particular, this would be a great way to foster collaboration between the zoology/ecology and computer science departments of universities.
• 4. Data Management: Phase out the need for third-party data management by building image uploaders and downloaders that reliably work at the scale of hundreds of thousands of images.
• 5. Video support: Allow for the annotation of videos alongside images without having to rely on scripts to pre-process data.
• 6. Improved Results: Add more formalised statistical analysis to the platform.
• 7. Static-Detection Removal Workflow: Improve the effectiveness removal of static/false detections through a dedicated human-in-the-loop workflow.
• 8. Data-sharing between organisations: This would allow research groups to share specific surveys with each other in a secure way.
• 9. Individual identification across surveys: Add to the workflow so that you are able to identify individuals across multiple surveys.
• 10. Pose detection: Train an AI to automatically detect which direction an animal is facing - this would improve the individual identification process.
