I figured out a simple way to fix steam

I found some old reddit posts and with my two braincells fixed steam.
First I installed steam to a windows 8 bottle
Then a made a steam.cfg.zip file to stop it updating
then i upgraded the bottle to windows 11 and now it works

I've been having a lot of trouble too. I'm having the issue with the latest mac version not allowing me to configure steam. So I was wondering if your way would work for me.

What do I do with that steam.cfg file?

Nooo I'm so sorry. I came across this video yesterday, and this kind soul zipped up his working version of steam from a few months back for people to download.

My thoughts was that I was going to set up a Win11 bottle, copy over these files, and drop in your config to stop the update - hopefully bypassing the need to input arguments.
