Hi (minor) project participants 🙋,

1. Illness

Due to a longer illness (about 3-4 weeks severe cold) all project(s) did stagnate, i was sleeping 😴 a lot (in reality i spent some weeks on Hawaii 🌴 🌴 🌴) 👉 impossible without some 💶 or severe 💴 in my 💰 currently.

2. In General

After getting up from the longest sleep since years i decided to get my apartment 🏰 completely in order after spending apx. a half year at my mothers place 🎅 over Christmas without 🎄 (she also got a bad illness) doing the same cleanup there 🏡 (including organizational and IT stuff). That was very sweaty (especially the garden work) 😓 😰 😓. After spending 5 days on my apartment it is "neat and tidy" again (hired the AI driven smart-gnome Norbot from Wallace & Gromit) 😁.

3. IT Cleanup

The additionally added circumstance of my weird broken work-laptop 💻 Lenovo ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 (loose contact on the ribbon cable between the power plug and the main-board) also contributed to project stagnation. After multiple times of visiting the Lenovo store in Berlin 🔎 the problem has been solved now 🎉, but it took its time ⌚. Also i decided to fix-up / update all other it-peripheral in general.

4. Fresh Core Boot

So my ThinkPad T420 🔩 got a fresh coreboot 25.03 flash 🔨 including SeaBIOS 1.16.3 🛠️ and a nifty bootsplash image 🔩 (added a new micro-repository at https://github.com/clauspruefer/coreboot-splash).

5. Summary / Future Outlook

I am up and running again, projects will 📈 continue immediately. Also 🔋 🔋 🔋 batteries are charged, 🎺 "i can feel the power" old song from the 80s, i do not remember who wrote it, it resides somewhere on 💽 or 📼 probably. Repeat and announce: 📣 up and 🏃 running 🏃 again!

Forgotten Topic 😩

Also i migrated ♻️ the ThinkPad P16 Gen 2 Windows 11 (Hypervisor VMWare and VirtualBox) to the latest version. Additionally the Development VM has been migrated ✂️ to Ubuntu 25.04 and some old VMs have been trashed 🚮.

Ubuntu 25.04

The 25.04 update fixes running inside VMWare Workstation with hybrid GPU setup using Intel GPU (RTX 3500 ADA Mobile runs with selected Apps on Hypervisor) with Wayland Protocol quite good. Also a Wayland X11 (video) wrapper has been added, but some applications using native X11 still misbehave and get the renderer out of step 🙅.

Just a small update: i think i have eliminated latency completely (random CPU and GPU drops inside VM) by disabling

1. "power-profiles-daemon" (Ubuntu VM)
2. All "systemd sleep / hibernation services" (Ubuntu VM)
3. "Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology" Software Components on Win 11 and
4. "Lenovo Intelligent Thermal Solution" on Win 11

I do not have extreme workloads, just compiling inside VM and on Hypervisor (Visual Studio), so hardware damage should be avoided 😎. But still noticing the Wayland -> X11 incompatibility increases latency / GPU load.

VMWare Workstation 3D Acceleration Problem

Still the Ubuntu 25.04 VM lags unpredictable 😡. It is related somehow to CPU / GPU Power Management and / or Disk IO. The problem is not essential, i am casual investigating 🔎.

Priority for today:

• Finish Ubuntu 25.04 Development VM setup
• Update setup and configuration in IaC (Infrastructure As Code) repository
• Merge http1-2 and x0-skeleton source from Internet-Test to Development VM
• Finish x0-skeleton example nr.2 (minor dev schematics already taken in consideration including multiple integration strategies)
