Integrate API endpoint into the plugin / Make it available in public?

Currently the plugin needs an API endpoint wich is not available public, why?

The API is setup so it works inside WordPress. Should we integrate the API code into the Gutenberg plugin?

If the API should be operated separately from the Gutenberg plugin, I can imagine leaner options than WordPress.
