Modeling for Alert Siren

Hello,

I've been using NoiseModelling to get an idea for how far an alert siren will be heard. However, while I can run the simulations and get data, I have questions on what I get.

1. Is it typical to see the sound fall off quickly on the edges? I would imagine it's potentially related to some sort of inverse square law, but it just seems to taper down very quickly. I'm not sure if it's the input data (I only have the 1.4kHz dB level of 126 to go off of) or if I'm doing something wrong in the model setup.
   

2. The manufacturer of the siren states the sound should travel at least 200m, but when I run the simulations I get less than that (typically 50-70 m less). Again, I'm unsure if this is just poor input data on my end, or something I'm not just setting up right when I'm doing my point-source modeling.

Hi @sdumblauskas , I am not sure to fully understand you question. What is the maximum distance of propagation you used ?

Hi @pierromond.. I did not realize there was even a setting for that in the Noise_level_from_source second. I've always left it as the default, 150m apparently. I moved it to 1000m and got more spread out results. My question then moves to, should I just set this for some large value if I want to see the theoretical largest distance? I know what the siren manufacturer states the max range should be, so I can use that too.
