@GGDLW yes, although by starting at index value of 1 you are eliminating the possibility that a surface parcel is the most unstable parcel over the lowest 50 hPa. So you could do mu_p, mu_t, mu_td, _ = mpcalc.most_unstable_parcel(p, T, Td, depth=50 * units.hPa)
mumr = saturation_mixing_ratio(mu_p, mu_t).to('g/kg) to include the surface parcel as a possibility as well. |

I am doing a research project which involves calculating various indices from sounding data. I would like to calculate Significant Hail Parameter. I found the formula to be:
sighail = (mucape * mumr * lapserate700-500 * Ta500mb * 6kmbshear) / 44000000
I want to make sure my calculation of the second term is correct. Would i do the following?
mu_p, mu_t, mu_td, _ = mpcalc.most_unstable_parcel(p[1:], T[1:], Td[1:], depth=50 * units.hPa)
mumr = saturation_mixing_ratio(mu_p,mu_t).to('g/kg)
