4mmc/mephedrone + MAOIs

I think, given what we know about mephedrone's serotonergic properties, it is safe to say this combination is also potentially risky. Here is some info from the 4mmc + SSRIs thread:

Bielecka-Papierz, et al. (2023) states the following:

The risk of developing this condition also grows with co-administration of serotonin-releasing drugs. The illicit drugs that can induce serotonin syndrome are mainly stimulants, i.e. amphetamines, cathinones, MDMA, cocaine.

Specific examples of pharmaceutical drugs that may lead to this interaction are SSRIs, MAOIs, TCAs, some of the more serotonergic opioids, and pseudoephedrine.

They do note that there is not a lot of research on these interactions specifically but that you can draw these conclusions from the basic pharmacology of the substances involved.

Data regarding interactions between mephedrone and legal, illegal and prescription drugs are very limited, however, as we know the mechanisms of action and metabolism, we can predict the effect of combining them.
