update for newer drivers

ever since I updated them I can't use this. when could we expect an update to include newer drivers?

Hi, which new driver version(s) are we talking about?

I see two recent tags in nvidia/open-gpu-kernel-modules being 570.172.08 and 535.261.03 from 4 days ago, none of which made into either extra-testing or extra (stable) channels of my distro yet

A new version is unlikely to happen before they make up to stable, as I won't be able to test stuff myself. That isn't to say I can't look for what changed, and have a preliminary/experimental fix on git main until then 🙂

Also, could you provide some logs of where it fails so I have more hints? Might waste some time going blind, thanks!

Ah, I didn't read properly this part at first, sorry, should be much simpler, but the sanity checks still holds 🙂

Your latest release doesn't have a binary for this version yet, so I can't use it at all.

They often doesn't need to match exactly! I've had great success picking the closest, but not newer, nvibrant prebuilt version than the current driver, in fact, that's what the python utility did in my case, it ran this file:

❯ ./nvibrant-linux-amd64-575.51.03-v1.0.6.bin 1023 1023
Driver version: (575.64.03)

Display 0:
• (0, HDMI) • Set Vibrance ( 1023) • Success
• (1, DP  ) • Set Vibrance ( 1023) • Success

This part of the GPU and display querying, setting simple attributes doesn't change much or at all between versions on nvidia's side, so there's some level of inter-compatibility of the prebuilt files!

I feel a little silly for not realizing the versions didn't need to match exactly, but that's good to know.
