Question about $(...)$ in procedure

I probably misunderstand something but I figure it's worth asking in case;

In $:/core/ui/EditTemplate/tags I see this procedure but it contains $(...)$ variable calls which I thought was a format limited to macros - ?

The important thing here is the start and the end-quote, which is a single backslash that can now be used for `string substitutions`

The problem with the old macro version was, that it could not be cached. So every macro using string substitution with $varnem$ had to be evaluated every time it was used.

The new variable $(placeholder)$ can be used now. Also see: substitute operator
