Slug that combines a date with a title

This is very hacky, but I wanted to create slugs for event posts that combine the date and title of the post. This is what I came up with...

It's very much a workaround, and it can be a little glitchy, but it does the job for me.

I'd love it if someone more sensible could suggest a better approach
