Hi,
some really amazing work in these repos.
Big midi nerd here..
So, my question is, is a microcontroller absolutely required to pull off the midi magic? i have a force(mockba), mpc Live(KikGen), a Dx7, and a Alpha Juno2. I'm looking for a single solution for all my sysex headaches.. Preferably from linux/macos CLI over rtp. With the akai stuff I'd like to access the public and private akai ports(which seems to be only possible with your sysex spoofing, correct me if im wrong). The vintage stuff I just want to translate cc to them, which i have yet to find an elegant solution to. Also Midi pipes sound like the things of my dreams... I'm not in the market or really in need of extra midi interfaces or ports. i have a mioXL with 12 Din, 10 usb midi and matching rtp ports(I'm sure i could set up some on demand port routing/Msg filtering in there if it thought i was the control software {but it also. has a dedicated preset selection channel}). Could the sysex magic be handled from a macbook over rtp? the KlikGen software seems to be everything I was looking for and much more. except i don't need anymore hardware. I don't really have experience with microcontrollers or coding. I'm not completely opposed to trying my hand at it, but if i could instead put more energy into a software solution if possible, I'd prefer to. if I were to teach myself something new as a solution, I'd rather learn to code software than hardware.
As i read through the software.. the types of things i envision that i wanted to know if they could be possible with the KlikGen in concert with AkaiMods are???.. tempo, the tempo can be controlled with moving data? be used with LFO's... four variable tempos? is there, or can you add tap tempo? can it do adaptive tempo? like follow my key or pad presses? mix values to control values? adaptive tempo values + LFO's for programable emotive song structure? when you are identifying as another device in a flow of data, the bits get lost/dropped? can you intentionally glitch the system in a timed manner? like a gate? the Forces pad's... can be separated from the interface? i could program a euclidian sequencer on the light grid to launch scenes and clips? i just set up my mockba functions I can use note and CC to launch, copy, paste, resize, randomize, humanize, quantize speed up and slow down clips.. i"d like to play those into algorithmic light pads? I'd like to address the fx pads with midi files from disk. stream(random) midi chord and arp files directly from disk for pitch value. while note on is controlled by algorithmic gates? Math? boolean? logic? algorithmic light pads? play back automation as midi from disk?
I was already going down an inception midi rabbit hole just with the mockba mod!!!! that, with what you have going on over here sounds pretty incredible and ground breaking. And capable of something very similar to modern modular synth type concepts and design. i think some real cool generative stuff could be programmed with this stuff, yet still be reactive playable, controllable and performable!!!! i'm on board regardless if i need to get into microcontrollers or not, but a software solution would suit my needs better...
Thanks for all of your work.
