Installation

Download LainOS ISO from releases

Burn the .iso to USB/DVD with a tool like rufus.

Check your BIOS, UEFI must be ON and Secure Boot OFF.

Boot the system using your USB/DVD, once you are on the user log in select Openbox on the top left button (Calamares only works in Openbox), login with
user:liveuser and password:
(no password) to enter the Openbox live installation environment.
Post installation:

use
sudo pacman -Sy
to update package databases, followed bysudo pacman -Syu
to update the system. -
use
chsh -s $(which zsh)
to get the custom shell prompt theme,(reboot for changes to take effect). -
and use
nano
open LazyVim, then Shift+U to update LazyVim once you are in ZSH. -
To get the LazyVim dashboard plugin custom rainbow ASCII art, execute the following command:

chmod 755 /home/USERNAME/.config/LazyVim/lua/plugins/script.sh

to activate your firewall, use
sudo systemctl start ufw
-
to have your firewall up on each boot, use
sudo systmctl enable ufw

11. Calamares should open and you will see the installer, in case it doesn't appear select this icon and search it.

17. You need to go to VM settings -> Storage and select the Controller: IDE, You need to disable it clicking the red X.



Hyprland is not supported on VM for now, on live should work.


Why switch to xfce for the install?: Only XFCE supports calamares installer.
I don't remember my credentials! what do i do?: log in with liveuser and create a new user.
