6. 'layout' Subdirectory
In the subdirectory's init.lua
the tags are assigned their names, which are the letters A-W-E-S-O-M-E that make up the taglist on the wibar, as well as the layout assignments and initialization of the custom layouts this configuration provides, detailed in their own section below.
This configuration treats each tag as its own workspace in the sense that this works on the traditional desktop environments such as XFCE and Gnome, there is no dynamic tagging provided because I am too much of a mess to solve problems I don't even have in the first place. I like have workspaces with all sorts of clients I can come back to later arranged more along the lines of what I need to accomplish a task. We are all different, you like dynamic tagging then please do you but I will be here still doing me happy as a clam about it.
Layout | Arrangement |
---|---|
centermaster | master in the center and additional on the sides |
deck | Overlapping clients arranged in a card-deck like manner, useful for switching between clients that are roughly maximized |
empathy | Stacks three on top, two on bottom |
equalarea | tiles clients with as equal screen geometry as possible and retaining usefulness when clients >5 |
horizon | creates three rows of clients, like thrizen but horizontal |
stack | splits window in half and stacks additional windows on the right |
thrizen | three column layout |
