Hey there! I noticed something while playing that might not be intended.
If you have a stored power-up, like the Fire Flower, and you're about to die (for example, falling into a pit), you can quickly pause and abort the level. When you do this fast enough, you don’t die and you also get to keep the power-up.
This means that, with good timing, you can avoid ever losing your stored power-ups, even in situations where you should’ve died. It feels a bit like an exploit, since it removes the usual penalty for dying.
I’m not sure if this is by design, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Maybe it would make sense for stored power-ups to be lost when aborting a level after a near-death situation?
