You can't. But Subtitle Alchemist (@niksedk's upcoming new app) will be available on Mac too. |

I got V3 and V4 to work on macOS, indirectly, via a (tailored-sufficient) Windows 7 emulation Bottle in CodeWeavers' CrossOver (a posh WINE). First I used CrossOvers' menu/library package to install SE V3 (+ dependencies), accepting CrossOver's default suggestion of a Windows 7 32-bit Bottle. Then (after testing V3 worked!), I downloaded SE V4 and started to install that - into the same Bottle. The "Windows Installer" (of the bottle) then prompted me to first install an additional .NET version, 4.8, which I duly did, as another CrossOver pre-packaged/library application, to the same Bottle (initially in this post, I had wrongly stated it was MS's .NET 4.8 installer). Finally I had another go at installing SE V4 (to the same Bottle, and likewise as an "External Application", this time successfully. The result of this installation method has been successful for me (and my system). I have been using SE V4.0.11 on a proper video project for just over a week or so, no issues (mostly very responsive, just some slight sluggishness at times when Undo-ing). Tip: It was no good installing V4 straight away (to a Bottle) - Crossovers' "pre-packaged" version (V3) had to be installed first. |
