Files not being moved to orphaned data

I have a remote seedbox that I mounted to my local Mac. I'm running qbit_manage in a Docker container. The root_dir is correctly mounted via Docker to its mounted location on my Mac.

The relevant parts of my config are as follows:

rem_orphaned: true
root_dir: /home/username/downloads/qbittorrent
orphaned_dir: /home/username/downloads/qbittorrent/orphaned_data
remote_dir: /home/username/downloads/qbittorrent

Am I missing something? Should I not use a remote_dir? Thanks!
