Cross-seed mechanics documentation

Hi everyone,

I have found it difficult to find any documentation on how cross-seeded torrents are identified.
It seems on some posts that it is based on whether another torrent with the same name is also seeding and identified by QBM.

1. Is there a way this can include torrents that are cross-seeded using cross-seeds "flexible" matching (e.g. same file but different filename)?
2. Is there any involvement of QBM identifying cross-seeded torrents via the "cross-seed" tag?

The qbm cross seed inject function is depreciated and slated for removal. It has no use anymore given crossseed changes v5+ and shouldn't be users

qbm_manage has nothing to do with finding or matching crossseeds.

How does QBM identify torrents for which it only deletes the .torrent and not the files for “reason: cross-seed” ? It is identifying them somehow

The data is being used by another torrent.

This is described in the docs.

I don't see it described in the docs where it says that cross-seeds are identified by "data being used by another torrent"

• All it says is "Use this if you would like to remove unregistered torrents. (It will the delete data & torrent if it is not being cross-seeded, otherwise it will just remove the torrent without deleting data)."
• It does not say how these torrents are identified as being cross-seeded (tag, data, etc) in the documentation as far as I can tell

Side note: I'm realizing that it does not matter if it has a different filename for a "flexible" match, because if the torrent with a different filename gets deleted it will not affect the other torrents that have the original filename

Share Limit's cleanup is quite clear

Setting this as true will remove and delete contents of any torrents that satisfies the share limits (max time OR max ratio) It will also delete the torrent's data if and only if no other torrents are using the same folder/files.

Edit: I think what confused me was the error log saying "cross-seed" whereas if it said "data in use by other torrents" it would have been more clear.
