Agreed this would be a useful improvement. I think a logical extension of ambiance volumes would be to replace the "no lighting" setting with control of the level lighting, and convert existing "no lighting" volumes to pitch-black lighting. |

At the moment level lighting is static per level. Allowing volume override would allow for lots of cool new effects. Or increased performance when lighting large cavernous areas.
Currently I am using hundreds if not thousands of lights to light up tons of rooms when it would be no different to just have a higher ambient lighting just for this area. The game spends 90% of the frame rendering lights only getting 50fps.
This would be a great addition for more effects and performance! If not for all settings even just different ambiance without forcing fog would be amazing.
