This new Space Teams PRO version has been released and is available for download on spaceteamspro.com.

Space Teams PRO releases that start with 0. are all Beta releases, meaning we have relaxed standards for stability, performance, and backwards compatibility as we quickly introduce new features. Please contact us directly (support@SimDynamX.com) if you are interested in using Space Teams in an environment where software stability is critical.

Most notable changes since v0.30.0:

Rendering

• GMRAD Uniform-size Tiles
  • Greatly improved performance and reduced hitching while loading terrain, especially for high detail local datasets
  • Datasets are now visible when covering less of the overall view
  • Eliminated most seams from issues with old planet dataset sampling
• Moon close-up surface details replaced
  • Now using Parallax Occlusion Mapping for moon as well as Mars
  • Fixed orientation of Mars surface depth mapping; now properly shaped
• Disabled Ambient Occlusion and Contact Shadows

Sim Features

• FieldEffects
  • Sim-wide way to model field forces and heterogenous volumes of both scalars and vectors
  • For example, Gravity field effect is a vector field, and is contributed-to by all gravity field effects that are added to the sim
  • Sampling from FieldEffects done through SimGlobals
  • Available on Compute_Server (and for core developers, in SpaceCRAFT UE Client). Will be available on Python Systems soon.
• Orbit Viewer Gadget
  • Pick a body, a gravitator, and a frame, then show its Keplerian orbit with live updating
• Transform Gadget - Keplerian mode
  • Set entity state from orbital elements
• Entity Set-State Functions Refactored
  • Entity setLocation, setVelocity, setRotation, etc functions now also accept FramedLoc, etc as input
  • Optional Framed*::New() function, which is more explicit than brace-initialization
  • Python API setLocationD, setVelocityD, setAngVelocityD funcs are the old API, new API uses Framed* structs as input

General

• Error handling improvements
  • Python Systems now checked for python-compile before loading
    • Catches syntax errors
  • Compute_Server checks for STP Python Environment before attempting to use it, and explains the user must redo FirstTimeSetup for this version.
  • Unreal client now prints on-screen log messages when Compute_Server still waiting to connect before sim start. This usually is from a crash-on-load.
• User Release C++ System Compile support
  • Now users have all they need to modify and recompile C++ Systems, as well as add their own
  • New instructions in the wiki for C++ developer setup
• Python API
  • Added GetParamAsString, ParamMap ToString
• Small adjustment to how setResidentFrame() works; should be no disruption to outside code.

We changed hosting providers for our Space Teams PRO version downloads, and something was overlooked which made the website only link to the old version of Space Teams PRO (0.30.0). Stay tuned, we will fix this shortly so y'all can download 0.31.1!
