Since find references can be slow for reasons, maybe UX can be improved by starting showing the results as soon as the files are read?

There's no feedback for this action currently, it looks like nothing is happening.

We are looking into improving performance of find references and indexing in general (so this should hopefully be improved soon). That said, yes we could use the spec's work done progress notifications to let the user know how far we are in discovering all references.

The team is a bit swamped, but if anyone would like to contribute this, we would need to:

1. Pass down the outgoing queue to the references request, so that it can send notifications to the client while doing work
2. After that, we essentially need to do the same we do for indexing. We already have helpers for reporting progress, we just need to invoke them based on some standard progress step
