Question about amount of time

Is there a certain amount of time that this lasts or does it last as long as the device is plugged into the mac?

It lasts as long as you don't reset it. Even if you unplug your device the location will still be faked. Either you reset it using the X button in the toolbar or you reboot your iOS device.

Or, if you close the application on your mac before unplugging your device, it will reset the location.
