Field picklist Options value not greater than 250 characters

I am having an issue with the Custom Registration Configuration Fields - the standard Country Code field does not allow Field Picklist Options with more than 250 characters. The entire component fails to show any fields if this field has more characters within the json textbox. There are 243 countries on the list, so the json is around 12000 characters long.
