Perpexity without MCP

Creating a MCP Server to integrate tools like a web search via Perpexity seems unnecessarily complicated when it´s just an Api call in essence. How about an alternative or native integration?

Imagine Perplexica and other FOSS alternatives as well, would be pretty useful for mining documentations and recommendations for code development + having web cache so as to not fetch the same thing multiple times
