Feature request: API timeouts and auto-retry

Sometimes API requests hang forever and just spin, which is annoying when I'm afk, come back, and see no progress.

Would be nice if all API reqs can timeout after a time and retry.

I know this already exists:

and am looking for them to "fail" if no response after 10s or so.
