Password is bypassed by switching keyboard layout

In my i3 config I have this line which allows me to switch between colemak, qwerty and russian keyboards by pressing alt-shift.

exec_always --no-startup-id "setxkbmap -layout 'us,us,ru' -variant 'colemak_base,,' -option 'grp:alt_shift_toggle'

For some reason when i3lock is run with the --keylayout 1 option, the password prompt can be bypassed by switching from russian to english with alt-shift. Switching from english to russian doesn't have the same effect. The package is i3lock-color 2.13.c.5-3 from the aur on archlinux.
