Why Go and PostgreSQL?

I wanted to learn them.

Why Google Run and CockroachDB platforms?

At the time of writing, they are completely free to use, within certain limits. I had originally wanted to use Fly.io for both, but it looks like they've retired their free plan.

Why use a DB at all? It looks like the data is static and not very large.

Again, I just wanted to learn. Using a DB is in fact not necessary for this use case.

Why is \fusion a POST endpoint when it doesn't create anything? It doesn't seem RESTful.

Because I'm not building this API to be used by some UI. This API is the full extent of my project. So, I wanted to have a POST body, making it more legible while using Postman, Swagger etc. as compared to writing 4 query parameters in a GET url.
