Using Touch X by USB connection

I've been trying to follow your steps, using my Touch X connected through a USB cable and its still not scanning the device (although its shown as connected when I run the lsusb command)

Hi @asraa-alali, just to quickly confirm, what version of Ubuntu are you using?

Geomagic seems to not have ported their driver to Ubuntu 22.04 yet. This might be your issue. For future reference, feel free to tag us, otherwise it often goes unnoticed.

Information about the driver state is found in the 3ds-touch-openhaptics repo.

I believe a lower ubuntu version should fix this. As our API wrapper should be agnostic of the connection method.

@mhubii and @asraa-alali there is a Omni driver that has been tested on 22.04. Wonder if there is cross comparability? As I believe they are linked and use a similar API.

Hello @RoscoDisco @mhubii , I tried the same steps on a device with 20.04 ubuntu version with the same issue facing me. I used the following drivers installation scripts as its mentioned in the README file:

• https://github.com/jhu-cisst-external/3ds-touch-openhaptics/blob/main/install-3ds-openhaptics-3.4.sh

Maybe its the USB connection having an issue with the repo. I will try the Omni driver and get back with the results.

Unfortunately, I was unable to get the suggested driver working on either my device or the workstation, which are running Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04 respectively.
May I ask you about the Touch X version you are using? Maybe different versions of the device is an issue. @RoscoDisco @mhubii
Also if you can show me the cable you're using to connect to the laptop (USB B to ethernet), so I can know if it was provided with the device or was created by you.
